Level 1: Foundations is our introductory volleyball program suitable for those with less experience. Players in these sessions will be new to volleyball or have a baseline understanding of skills but are unable to execute consistently. Foundations curriculum includes:
Attacking: proper footwork, finding rhythm in your approach, proper armswing mechanics
Serving: standing overhand float serve, making solid contact, proper footwork, generating torque/power to serve consistently over the net
Passing: proper posture and form, shoulders forward, simple clean movements
Setting: hand positioning and proper release
Each session will have fun, engaging new drills and competitive game play, and will help our athletes build confidence. **Note: the first week will be evaluative in nature. If adjustments need to be made, coaches will recommend moving athletes up/down according to fit.
Level 2: Intermediate/Advanced is our program for players that have the ability to execute basic skills on a consistent basis (serving a ball and passing consistently to target, sustaining play over multiple rallies across the net, etc.) Players in this program will have played multiple years on their school team and/or have club experience. ***Competitive club athletes welcome!! Level 2 Advanced is perfect for refining your skills for club! Skill curriculum includes:
Attacking: attacking out of system (in challenging situations), backrow attacking, generating explosiveness, secondary shots (tips, rolls, etc)
Serving: serving to targets, jump float, introduction to jump top-spin
Passing: Tracking the ball, passing outside of the body
Setting: setting from the body’s midline, setting from off the net, generating more power and accuracy
Each session will have fun, engaging new drills and competitive play, and will help our athletes elevate their game. ***Note: the first week will be evaluative in nature. If adjustments need to be made, coaches will recommend moving athletes up/down according to fit.
Location: Orland Park Health and Fitness Center - 15430 West Ave, Orland Park, IL
Starts Monday, April 6th and meets every Monday for 7 weeks (April 6, 13, 20, 27; May 4, 11, 18 )
Extended 1 hour + 30 minute session each week includes 1 hour of skill training and 30 minutes of game play, each night! Last date of the session includes a fun in-house tournament with music, theme and prizes!
Time: 6:30-8:00pm
Open to girls AND boys entering grades 5-8
Cost: $300
